As the VVIPs were leaving the convention centre, they stopped at the lobby entrance to pull off the covers to this special vehicle. Members of the press and the general public were surprised to see a different, more aggressive version of the Prevé with the word “Sapphire” on its number plates.

Prime Minister Dato Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Proton Group Managing Director Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir and Proton Adviser Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad each giving a thumbs up after lifting off the covers to the Proton Preve Sapphire.
The Prevé Sapphire is said to be a showcase of what Proton Engineers can do to the new car. Painted in a unique Gun Metal Grey treated to a matte finish, the Sapphire has a few panels that features a more sportier look.

Built-in monitor for rear passengers.
The interior is more attractive with panels treated to a colour to match the tan leather upholstery on the slightly redesigned seats. There are also in-built monitor screen at the back of the front seats for the rear passengers.

18 inch alloy wheels inspired by R3 designs.
The Sapphire is equipped with an 18 inch 5 twin-spoke alloy wheels, that looked like it was inspired by the R3 division, wrapped in 225/40 series Yokohama S-Drive tyres. Behind the wheels are some up-rated braking system that looks like either a two or three pot callipers with slotted disc.
Apart from what can be seen from the outside, little is known about the engine upgrade for the Sapphire.
